The number of times each framework paper was cited since publication until 1 July 2019. The frameworks are the Pathway Classification (Hulme et al. 2008), the Unified Framework (Blackburn et al. 2011), and EICAT (\Blackburn et al. 2014; Hawkins et al. 2015). Values from 2019 only include a portion of the year and even the number of citations by articles published in 2018 is a slight underestimate as it has also increased in the time since July 2019. Each framework has shown a general increase in citations per year since publication, and a decrease in the proportion of self-citations (Table 1).
