For biotic contexts, treatments used in two or fewer studies (alternative resource 2, invasion gradient 2, consumer experience 1, consumer source 1, resource exposition 1, and starvation period 1) were included in “other”. For abiotic contexts, treatments used in only one study (depth, disturbance, field versus laboratory, light regime, period of the day, and site) were included in “other”.
